In this week’s rewind, we go back to “Tomato Balumda” released around 1999. This was the lead song on Callen Moses Chisha‘s debut album. He is better known by his stage name 2wice.
Perhaps the most controversial song to ever come out of Zambia, “Tomato Balunda” laments the ever rising basic commodity prices and the struggle of the regular citizens.
For his efforts, 2wice earned himself a few days in jail for this song and “Tomato Balunda” was banned from the Zambian airwaves!
