Yo Maps & Ngozi Family's Chrissy Zebby Tembo Make AFRIMA Nominations

Zambia is proudly flying its flag high at the forthcoming 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) as two of the country’s own, Yo Maps and Chrissy Zebby Tembo with the Ngozi Family have earned nominations in prestigious categories.

Yo Maps secured a spot in the highly competitive Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa category with his hit single Mr & Mrs. He is up against heavyweight names such as Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah, South Africa’s Nasty C, Tyler ICU, Wanitwamos, and Mozambique’s Anderson Mário. The recognition further cements Yo Maps’ position as one of Southern Africa’s leading hitmakers, continuing his streak of continental acclaim.

On the other hand, Chrissy Zebby Tembo from Zambia’s legendary Zamrock band The Ngozi Family clinched a nomination in the Best African Artiste, Duo or Group in African Rock category for their record “I Am Not Made of Iron”. They stand tall alongside acts from across the continent, including Ethiopia’s Laeke, Algeria’s Izlan, Cameroon’s Franck Biyong, Kenya’s Rash, and Niger’s Mdou Moctar.

This recognition not only highlights the vibrancy of Zambia’s contemporary music scene but also pays tribute to the country’s rich rock and Zamrock heritage, which continues to inspire generations.

The 2025 AFRIMA, in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), will be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria, from November 25 to 30, 2025. The week-long celebration will culminate in the main awards ceremony on November 30, broadcast live to over 80 countries worldwide.

Public voting officially opens on September 10, 2025 via the AFRIMA website, giving fans across Africa and the diaspora the power to determine the winners. Voting closes on the eve of the main event.
